<p>My research is mainly in two areas of the software engineering domain, which are<em>human
aspects in software engineering</em>and<em>privacy in software engineering</em>,
respectively. </p><p>My main research interests can be summarized as follows:</p><ul><li>empirical

Artificial Intelligence (AI) on building recommendation systems for software

<p>I am a Research Associate at the <a href="http://crc.open.ac.uk">Centre for
Research in Computing</a> of <a href="http://www.open.ac.uk">The Open University</a>.
I joined the Open University in October 2013, and have been working on the research
grant<a href="http://www9.open.ac.uk/PrivacyDynamics/home">Privacy Dynamics</a> funded
by Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). </p><p>As a
software engineering researcher, my position in this multi-disciplinary research project
requires to collaborate with social psychologists from the<a href="http://www.exeter.ac.uk"
rel="nofollow">Exeter University</a>and machine learning experts from the<a href="https://www.imperial.ac.uk"
rel="nofollow">Imperial College London</a>to bridge and make use of the research results
to design<em>adaptive software</em> solutions that guide Online Social Network
(OSN) users and the users of life-logging technologies to manage their privacy.</p><p>I
received my Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Engineering at the
Bogazici University in 2012, under supervision of Professor Ayse Bener.
From September 2012 to September 2013, I worked as a MAC Post Doctorate Fellow
at Data Science Laboratory (DSL), Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. In January
2013, I gave a talk titled"Confirmation Bias as a Human Aspect in Software Engineering"
at <a href="http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/labs/redmond/" rel="nofollow">Microsoft
Research Redmond</a> summarizing the results of my research. The video of
this talk is available online at <a href="http://research.microsoft.com/apps/video/default.aspx?id=180163"
rel="nofollow">Microsoft Research website</a>.</p><p>During my PhD studies and as
a post-doctoral researcher at Ryerson University, I mainly focussed on human
cognitive aspects and the problem of decision making under uncertainty to solve
problems in the software engineering domain. By using machine learning algorithms,
data mining techniques and statistical methods, I built models and tools, which
guide managers to make decisions during various phases of the Software Development
Life Cycle (SDLC). Moreover, I gained experience in mining software repositories and
analysing large scale software due to conducting collaborative research with large-scale
software companies. </p><p> </p> |
