<div><div>My research focuses on the social consequences of surveillance and monitoring,
the impacts of security regimes on organisations and individuals, as well as understandings
of data control and security. I am currently working on the EPSRC funded project Monetize
Me exploring lifelogging as performed by Quantified Self (QS) enthusiasts. Loggers,
for example, track sleep patterns, heart rate or calorie intake and QS provides a
means to collect and collate better understandings of health, fitness, wellbeing,
financial or working patterns. The project questions issues of privacy and how QS
data is exploited by users as well as businesses seeking to profit from QS data. Previously
I was working on the FP7 funded Increasing Resilience In Surveillance Society project
which investigated the social and economic impacts of surveillance technologies. And
before that on the Leverhulme funded Talking Liberties: New Uses in UK Consumer Data
project examining the impacts of compliance with governmental security regulations
on frontline workers in the travel and financial service sectors.</div></div> |
