62421 abstract This chapter provides an interpretation of the trajectory of reform of the European Commission according to the ‘neo-Weberian model’ (Pollitt and Bouckaert, 2004, 2011; Pollitt et al., 2008), by contrasting it with both the ‘Weberian model’ and the New Public Management (NPM) doctrines about the organization of the public sector.
