abstract |
Engineering is at the heart of modern life and Engineers now use computers and software
in the design and manufacture of most of the products, processes and systems that
make up our lifestyles. The Open University is introducing a post graduate level
course on the computational modelling and analysis technique known widely as finite
element analysis. Covered will be basic theory, modelling, meshing and analysisng
component models for stresses, deflections, temperatures and vibrations under operating
conditions and loads. Using supported distance learning there will be many examples
of good practice for safe and effective application of the method. Learning and assessment
will be by web based examples and forums along with DVD case studies supported by
traditional written published materials. |
